About AICR

The American institute for Cancer Research is dedicated to changing lives to save lives. We do this by:

  • Funding scientists at universities, clinics and research centers throughout the US and overseas to investigate how diet, weight and physical activity influence the prevention, treatment and survival of cancer.
  • Interpreting the results of the global scientific literature and distilling those conclusions into practical advice for the public.
  • Delivering the empowering, evidence-based message that small, everyday choices can reduce our risk of cancer.

We were the first cancer charity to focus on the links between diet and cancer and today we remain at the cutting edge of the science of cancer prevention.

Scientists estimate that about a third of the most common cancers could be prevented by eating healthily, being physically active and maintaining a healthy weight.
